The fertile land of a country is a gift of nature that has ample potential to serve the people who work hard to get return from it. Subcontinent countries are rich with agricultural land and their economies are revolving around the products they get from their fields. Pakistan has not only the land but also a masterly designed irrigation system that enhance the ability to produce more crops from its fields. Rice is one of the main crops in Pakistan.

Agricultural production mainly depends on the factors of nature but the scientific methods have also made significant contribution as it does in all other fields. The recent research for the paddy crops has made it possible to cultivate the crop with seeds rather than first grow plants and then transfer them into field. It saves a great deal of money and also the labor which ultimately reduce the cost of production. As a result of this price of that food grain must get lower than present. For this paradigm shift millions of rupees have been invested to facilitate the farmers.

The energy crisis plays its adverse role to this year expected reduced paddy production per acre. As it is well known fact about that food crop that it requires more water than other food crops so in canal irrigated villages farmers get the additional water for irrigation purpose from tube wells run by electricity. Along with this the hard weather conditions further aggrieved the situation for the growers. But the heavy rains in the month of August and in early September have raised the hopes of pluvial area growers of paddy. The overall situation in the whole world is also not very positive and it is expected that this year there would be a significant decrease in the production of this food grain.

All that would become a cause of price hike of this commodity not only in the country but also everywhere in the world. As it is the rule of basic economics less a commodity is available in the market more it would assume value. Rice is an important source of earning foreign exchange for the country. There are number of mills that after milling process export the finest grains to all the countries of the world. The milling process turns the grain into a refined product that does not only meet the world standards but also look more attractive to the buyers. Rice of Pakistan has its demand because of premier quality and taste. The aroma of basmati rice species entice the appetite and finally when eaten get praising remarks for sure. That is why a large quantity of it is exported to different countries.
