Ricky Gervais Tickets - Appearing On 'the Simpsons'

Comedian Ricky Gervais keeps a full schedule and his next project

, slated for early 2011, will mark his second appearance on the hit cartoon sitcom The Simpsons. Gervais told the comedy-based website Chortle, "I recorded it last week. Didn't mention it as I don't like to show off. You know that. It's a fun episode."

The last time Gervais appeared on the program was in 2006, where he played an office manager in an episode that he also wrote. According to the BBC, Gervais was asked to become involved with the series by creator Matt Groening, who happened to be a huge fan of Gervais' show The Office. It seems like the partnership is still going strong.

Gervais added on Chortle, "When I first got into comedy someone asked me what my ultimate ambition was. I said, 'To get a joke on The Simpsons.'" Don't miss the opportunity to see the funnyman crack jokes live on stage. Ricky Gervais tickets are currently available at StubHub.

In other Gervais news, there has been much speculation buzzing around the internet about who will replace Steve Carell after he leaves The Office next season. Several magazines and news outlets have reported that Gervais himself might step into the role of office manager (as he did for the British version). In an interview with ABC news, however, Carell shot down any rumors that Gervais will become the new head honcho at the fictional paper distributor Dunder Mifflin. "Ricky Gervais? There's no way. He doesn't want to do that at all. He sent me a nice e-mail when I announced I was leaving. He's really sweet," said Carell.

The Office fans may be disappointed that Gervais isn't stepping in to fill the big shoes vacated by the socially awkward Michael Scott, but there are plenty of other opportunities to see Ricky both on television and on stage. Gervais is producer of the American version along with co-creator Stephen Merchant.

Ricky Gervais gained mainstream notoriety with his popular television series The Office, which first aired in 2001. Initially the program received little in the way of attention or praise but by the time the second six-episode series aired it had topped the BBC Two ratings and was even garnering attention internationally.

In addition to The Office, Gervais has also worked on a variety of other television programs including Extras, which debuted on the BBC in 2005 and The Ricky Gervais Show, which premiered in 2010 and is featured on the HBO network.

Gervais has also written several children's books and has appeared in a number of films including Night at the Museum, Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying. For fans, however, one of the best ways to truly enjoy Gervais' genius is by seeing him perform stand-up comedy. Don't miss out on an upcoming appearance by Gervais when he next stops by a city near you. There is no doubt that you will be laughing long after The Office creator has told his last joke. Tickets can be found at StubHub today.
