The problem with quarter sizes is that they do not take into consideration possible alterations from swelling that may manifest throughout the daytime. Other disparities in ring sizes includes other countries globally that use slightly divergent representational measurements.

United States and Canada employ a numerical scale that includes half sizes and quarter sizes.
United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland implement a measuring system which uses an alphabetical scale that consists of half sizes.

Determining Ring Size
To find out your ring size there are a few simple steps you should perform if you would like to do it yourself. However, you do have the choice to be measured by a jeweller who will keep mock rings that will be used to identify your actual size.
1.First obtain a piece of paper. The colour will not make a big difference however ensure that it is not too deeply coloured so that the marks you make are hidden.
2.Cut the paper into a fairly thin strip that can be employed for this purpose.
3.Take the piece that you have just cut and wrap it around the finger that you are attempting to measure. When taking your measurements be sure to place the paper just beneath your joint but close enough to the knuckle. If your knuckles are large in comparison to the lower portion of your finger then measure the ring size nearer to the knuckle to account for this disproportion. In other words the largest part of your finger will need to weigh heavily into the sizing process.
4.Make your mark on the spot where the paper joins together.
5.Unfold the paper carefully making sure you don't tear it and measure the total length between the two segments with your ruler.

Size 4 is equalled to 1 13/16 inches
Size 5 equals 1 15/16 inches
Size 6 is equalled to 2 1/16 inches
Size 7 equals2 1/8 inches
Size 8 is equalled to 2 1/4 inches
Size 9 equals 2 5/16 inches
Size 10 is equalled to 2 7/16 inches
Size 11 equals 2 9/16 inches
Size 12 is equalled to 2 5/8 inches
Size 13 is equalled to 2 3/4 inches
Size 14 is equalled to to 2 7/8 inches
Tips that will help you when measuring ring size.
Do not measure your fingers if they are cold, your fingers will be a bit smaller when cold.
Measure your fingers at the end of the day when they will be at their largest size. This will afford you a better fit.
