Ring Sizes

A ring is a valuable object that may be preserved for a lifetime depending on the sort of ring

However, because no two individuals are the same rings are created or modified to fit various finger shapes and sizes. Ring sizes are measured in accordance region specific standards. In the United States and Canada ring sizes are measured using a numerical scale that includes quarter and half sizes. To go up one size means that the ring's diameter will measure 0.032 inches more than the smaller size, this may also be expressed as 1/10th of an inch. The quarter and half sizes are not precisely linked to normal modes of measurements. In general half sizes may be more applicable because they are less precise. The problem with quarter sizes is that they do not take into consideration possible alterations from swelling that may manifest throughout the daytime. Other disparities in ring sizes includes other countries globally that use slightly divergent representational measurements.

Determining Ring Size

To find out your ring size there are a few simple steps you should perform if you would like to do it yourself. However, you do have the choice to be measured by a jeweller who will keep mock rings that will be used to identify your actual size.

1.First obtain a piece of paper. The colour will not make a big difference however ensure that it is not too deeply coloured so that the marks you make are hidden.

2.Cut the paper into a fairly thin strip that can be employed for this purpose.

3.Take the piece that you have just cut and wrap it around the finger that you are attempting to measure. When taking your measurements be sure to place the paper just beneath your joint but close enough to the knuckle. If your knuckles are large in comparison to the lower portion of your finger then measure the ring size nearer to the knuckle to account for this disproportion. In other words the largest part of your finger will need to weigh heavily into the sizing process.

4.Make your mark on the spot where the paper joins together.

5.Unfold the paper carefully making sure you don't tear it and measure the total length between the two segments with your ruler.

The measurements will correspond with the sizes stated below.
