Ringworm Creams For Effective Management Of Ringworm

It is very convenient to use and will help you gain back your confidence in yourself. Ringworm creams are over-the-counter medications that are very effective in ringworm elimination.
Tips for Proper Application of Ringworm Cream
Here are some tips that will help you in the appropriate application of ringworm cream. These tips are very simple and should be followed well to achieve the maximum effectiveness of the anti-fungal cream.
1) Clean the ringworm patch then pat it dry. This provides a cleansed area so that anti-fungal cream will be not be contaminated with unwanted dirt and sweat.
2) Wash your hands before and after you administer the ringworm cream. Washing your hands prior to anti-fungal cream application will allow you to administer a pure ringworm cream without any foreign organisms or dirt. You should also wash your hands after treating your ringworm so that you will not spread the fungi spores to uninfected parts of your body and to other people.
3) Apply the ringworm cream over the infected site and the skin surrounding it. You should apply a thin layer of the anti-fungal cream over the ringworm including the uninfected skin around the ringworm about 4 to 6 cm in diameter. This will allow the anti-fungal cream to destroy the fungi in the ringworm and prevent infection to the surrounding normal skin.
4) Allow the ringworm cream to dry on the affected site. This will allow absorption of ringworm cream to the infected area to achieve its effectiveness.
5) Follow the treatment regimen prescribed by your doctor/dermatologist. Anti-fungal creams are usually used for 2 to 4 weeks. The symptoms of ringworm may disappear on the second week, but it is advised to extend the treatment for a week or two so that the fungi will be totally eradicated and fungal reinfection will be prevented. Except for lotrisone, which is a combination of anti-fungal and corticosteroid, because it is not prescribed for long term use as this can cause harmful effects.
6) Do not cover the infected area. You should not cover bandage or wear fit clothing because fungi thrive in dark and warm areas. Do not cover the treated area, unless it is ordered by your physician.

Ringworm creams are usually used for external fungal infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot (tinea pedis), and jock itch (tinea cruris). It should be stored in a room temperature, and keep the cream from too much heat and moist environment. While on treatment, you should not share your personal things and prevent rubbing or scratching the infected area to avoid transmission of fungal spores. - Generic Name: Terbinafine(anti-fungal) Brand Name: Lamisil, Lamisil AT (US), and Lamisil Dermgel (Canada)
- Generic Name: Clotrimazole with Betamethasone (anti-fungal with corticosteroid) Brand Name: Lotrisone
