Roadmap For Writing Character Essay

Character analysis essay is often assigned to the students not merely to make them

write something but teachers want to enhance the character analysis skill of them and this is how teacher analyzed the psychological factors of the students on how they perceive an individual.

Analyzing a particular character is not everyone"s cup of tea for everybody has their own gifted skills but yes they can do efforts to increase it. This is why, they don"t get good grades, and therefore it is advisable that they go for some guidance for writing their character essays .First of all, they should know that they have two choices in front when it comes to character essay that are:

1.Protagonist approach

2.Antagonist approach

Out of the above two approaches, students mostly prefer writing essay on character by choosing protagonist and because of this, it makes their essay an ordinary one. So, a word of advice here is to try different and unique approaches for writing essays on character. We have compiled a roadmap for the students to write good essays on characters.

Let"s say that you have taken Lord Voldemort as an antagonist of the novel and Harry Potter is the character that you have chosen to analyze

First step:

Introduction:

Following are the basic elements of an introduction:

Hook:

Hook is the first sentence that needs to be striking enough that will introduce the character of the novel, for instance:

"J.K Rowling, the author of the novel; Harry Potter introduces the great antagonist, Lord Voldemort"

Background about the character:

Provide at least two or three sentences to introduce the character that you will be going to discuss in your character analysis essay. A good example for this could be:

"Lord Voldemort has been portrayed as biggest devious wizard in the novel having impervious feelings for human fellowship and believes the he is the superior authority among them"

Thesis statement:

It should be crafted as such which shows the strengths and weaknesses of the character Lord Voldemort, for instance:

"Power can destroy the morality of anyone, just like the way it destroyed Lord Voldemort. His intelligence and genius made him too arrogant to see his downfall"

Second step:

Body:

Since, you have decide to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the character which is also evident from the thesis statement, then make sure the body of your character analysis essays comprises of two paragraphs; one for strengths and one for weaknesses.

Paragraph no. 1:

This would be discussing the strengths of the Lord Voldemort in detail and the roadmap for writing first paragraph would be:

Topic sentence:

It should be a short and sturdy sentence that will tell the basic strengths of the character.

"Lord Voldemort was extremely intelligent, genius and powerful"

Employing a quotation:

You can use quotations from the novel to define a particular point of view, like

"LORD VOLDEMORT has the power to control people"s mind and was assumed to be the best student that Hogwarts ever had".

Elaboration:

Next, you would be elaborating the idea that you portrayed in the quotation, like how Lord Voldemort captured the daily prophet in the deathly Hallows.

Paragraph no. 2:

You can follow the procedure that has been stated in the paragraph number one for writing the weaknesses of the Lord Voldemort like his suspicious nature never let him love and trust others.

Third Step:

Conclusion:

Almost all of the essay writers know how to write a good conclusion but sometimes they misses little yet important aspects of a good conclusion, like they keep on incorporating first person pronoun. So, make sure you are not using words like, "I" or "We" while writing essay on characters
