WHAT'S INSIDE ROCKET JAPANESE?

Rocket Japanese is available as a set of CDs or as a download. Inside you will find audio recordings, special software games, videos, and more. In addition to that, you get access to a Learning Lounge where you can test your skills, and connect with other users and instructors.

The basic approach is to teach Japanese by Visual Association. "Visual association" is the same way you first learned to speak. You SAW something and HEARD the word for it at the same time. In this manner you effortlessly and swiftly picked up the meanings of words. Rocket Japanese aims to duplicate the process with the use of audio, video, and specially designed software.

HOW WELL DOES IT WORK?

If you are serious and willing to work with the material regularly, Rocket Japanese is a very powerful way to learn to speak Japanese. Ideally, you should aim to view the material for a little time everyday (at least 30 min - 1 hr a day). The lessons are made to build on each other. Therefore, being consistent is crucial.

Picking up a new language is alot like learning to ride a bike. For the first week or so you may feel that you aren't getting anywhere. If you persist, however, you will hit a point when things suddenly "fall into place". You will find that you are suddenly able to hear most of the words in the audio recordings and can create basic sentences easily.

You can then add more vocabulary and advanced grammar to your repertoire.

IS IT THE BEST WAY TO GO FOR EVERY STUDENT?

Some people find it hard to focus unless there is some outside pressure like an upcoming "exam" or an instructor checking their "homework".

Rocket Japanese is a self-paced approach. It is powerful but you have to provide the consistency yourself.

If you feel you need the pressure of a class situation in order to take action, look into classes at a local college. Remember, however, that classroom instruction will cost much more and will take longer.
