Rocky Horror Returns

Hi Folks!

I've just heard that "The Rocky Horror Show" is returning to Equals Bar in California this week! I'm so exited about this because I absolutely love it - I've seen many a stage production and this one is going to be a killer. I'm already checking out stuff on Amazon to get me into the swing of things (have a look for yourself). I've just bought the 35th Anniversary Blue Ray edition and can't wait to watch it in HD.

Ok for those who have lived in a cave all these years here's the basic storyline:

The musical "tells the story of two clean-cut kids, Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, who run into car trouble and seek help at the site of light down the road," according to RockyShows.net. "Little do they know it's coming from the place where Dr. Frank N Furter is in the midst of his maniacal experiments."

The stage production and film follow the same plot, though the character of Rocky does have speaking lines in the play. Merely Players' features the production's well-known musical numbers such as "Time Warp" and "Sweet Transvestite."

It's the one place where you can let your hair down and dress up and forget all your troubles for a few hours.

This production is giving out a prop kit to audience members so they can get fully into the swing of things (I'll be getting mine!!)

Kevin Roach is reprising the role of Dr. Frank N Furter, which he first portrayed when Merely Players presented "Rocky Horror" for the first time five years ago.

"I love this show because it has already its built-in following," Roach said. "People who come to it want to let loose."

Tim Curry was the original Dr. Frank N Furter in the film and Kevin has said he will try to emulate and not imitate the original Doc.

"The campiness of it is what makes it fun, and the people who come make it fun," Roach said.

Merely Players' production of "The Rocky Horror Show" opens at 9 p.m. Thursday at Equals Bar, 1006 E. Fourth St. That performance is non-smoking.
