So far I like my SD player, but I had a difficult start with him. "5 minutes", the setting is closer to 25 minutes, the first 15, including a lot of bad writing on my side. Instruction seems like a simple (not red, white and yellow connectors into the corresponding slots in the color on your TV screen), even for someone who has very little experience with electronics. But when I looked at the back of my TV, I discovered a dozen such patches of color, and according to my instructions, I do not know which file I need.
When searching the Internet I found that he was right, just turn on the TV and find that I still have a view on the Food Network channel and not on the screen, I have seen in years. Another Google search gave me more information. Perhaps it should be on TV a (permanent) station, or can I do to a DVD or ANT, or any of the TV gives me the opportunity. Fortunately, it works! After 15 minutes of panic that my players do not work for me, it was time to "setup" section.
Again, the manual does not really give any information on this subject, but it was easy to follow along on the screen. I had back and forth between my TV and the computer to go several times to enter a code for each Web page and site Netflix, as well as a username and password for the Netflix Player a year (via remote), and that lasted several minutes, plus to update a few minutes and restart, etc.
I'm not sure if it's not just me that the configuration of five minutes, everything seems trivial, but I think it's really that simple, and must be much more difficult than I expected kind of shaped me. I was a little annoying, I think, since initial concerns that a player to count only and will not use. But it seems to me!
Now I'm looking forward to my players. I would be five stars, with one exception: the instructions simple. If you are good with gadgets, I would say that it is a very good chance that you look at these guidelines and can easily fill in the gaps themselves. But for the rest of us, the more useful set of instructions would be wonderful.
Regardless of my questions, although I would recommend you do it is with Netflix. I'm really only my post stupid questions, with installations in the hope that it might prevent other was the opening game, they get one of their films to benefit little faster!

First, I want to thank all the positive reviewers of this product. I wish the people buying air beds were as concise as Roku users.
Quickly, my history: I have been in media sales for 20 years, owned a movie store for two, and currently work at a TV station. So my expectations are NOT generic.
I got the SD. I know the HD is only $20 more, and I have seen the difference between SD and HD and I have been impressed... but I really wanted the base model to DELIVER. And WOW does it!
Most reviews and descriptions of the Roku tell you there are some really cool channels. There are. Amazon is there, and Netflix of course, and Pandora... and a WHOLE TON MORE. Like classic flix? It's there. Read blogs? There's a channel. Like some obscure shtuff I don't understand but you probably want? It's there. It's basically the full cable package of programs for the internet savvy. I can't wait till they make friends with Hulu.
I don't know if I buy the three minute setup time. That guy must type 92372973 words a minute. It's really more like ten minutes. But, hey, ever try to program a (shock!) VCR? Right, my point is made.
I got the Roku because I had Netflix and an antenna which started delivering less consistent signal. Instead of satellite, I got the basic cable package (local channels, HBO and 3mbps for $40 a month!) and kept my Netflix. SUPER decision on my part.
BTW, Amazon Prime shipping is FABOO. I got my Roku in less than a day. And I do NOT work for Amazon. I work for a local TV station.
Anyhow, I set the Roku up on the crappiest TV in the house. It's a no-name brand 25 inch low power non-HD Wal Mart Christmas special I bought used for $33. Even the Roku LOGIN screen looks awesome!!
NOTE: Please KNOW your wireless WAP, username and password (two of the three at least). Otherwise you will NOT GET ON. If you have satellite internet, you have to buy the highest mbps download option available or it won't work. FYI
That being said, ten clicks in ten minutes and two quick visits to websites to punch in VERY SHORT passcodes (thank you Roku!!) and I was in. OH MY STARS the difference in the quality of picture and sound on my junky TV versus my laptop!! The SD!!! SD!!! vid is better than HD on my PC. Too many acronyms? Sorry. How about: the picture ROCKS, never freezes, and looks AWESOME!
Now, you would think that I would have spent that time playing with my Netflix Instant queue, but no. There's too many other channels to check out, if you're even remotely curious. I set up my Amazon. I set up blogs. Then I found Pandora.
It may stump you at first, because after you become a FREE member it asks you your favorite artist. Huh?? Wow. So I picked one. I don't like the others in their genre, so I click NEXT a few times and Pandora slaps my hand. Pick another artist. Cool!! I can pick a bazillion. I have a Gaelic channel now called "Enter the Haggis playlist". And if you're an 80s fan, just put Duran Duran in. I have been listening to it on Roku for over four hours without a repeat, and without a song I don't know the words to. I have been singing along all night.
What else can I say?
GET A ROKU!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!! :)
