Vitamins play a major role in the proper functioning of the various organs in a human body

The Vitamin A is responsible for the prevention of night blindness and helps in maintaining proper eyesight. It is also essential for growth and prevents the complication occurring in the urinary system known as urolithiasis. Vitamin B1 prevents the beri beri disease and is helpful in the synthesis of fats from carbohydrates and proteins.

Vitamin B2 is responsible for the oxidative processes taking place within the cells. Vitamin B3 is completely responsible for the carbohydrate metabolism. Vitamin B4 and B5 are essential for growth and is helpful in synthesis of fatty acids, utilization of the other vitamins. Vitamin B6 helps in the prevention of skin diseases. Vitamin B12 prevents pernicious anaemia. Vitamin C is essential for the prevention of human scurvy. It is also helpful in tissue formation and wound repair.

Vitamin D controls the amount of calcium in both blood and the bones. It helps in maintaining the bone, teeth strong and also prevents rickets. Vitamin E is essential for the prevention of sterility and muscular dystrophy. Vitamin K is essential for blood clotting and it also prevents haemorrhage thereby reducing the excess flow of blood from the body during injuries. Thus the intake of Vitamins in the diet maintains the body fit and strong.
