Roof Repairs
When faced with roof problems such as missing or slipped tiles
, the first roof repairs you may think to carry out is to replace those tiles so that your roof appears back to normal. However this will only ever be a temporary fix until you take a look underneath.
roof repair is not something you should overlook. Your home is exposed to a lot of different weather conditions which can affect it inside and out. But no part is more prone to wear and tear than your roof. Roof problems can lead to all sorts of further problems within your home so if you have a roof problem, roof repair should be carried out immediately.
One of the most effective forms of roof repair available is polyurethane roof insulation. Roof insulation might seem like an odd solution to roof problems, but when you consider that most roof problems are caused by leaks and draughts, it doesn't seem like such a far out solution.
Polyurethane roof insulation is a thermal insulator which is used for a variety of applications, from roof insulation to roof repair. It creates a waterproof lining that prevents the ingress of wind, rain and snow and transforms your cold, damp, draughty loft space into a warm, dry, clean, useable room. Polyurethane insulation has a high R-value which means it is more effective than other types of loft insulation. R-value is a measure of thermal resistance whereby the bigger the R-value, the more effective at insulating it is. It is also four times stronger than fibre glass and if you choose this way to resolve your roof problems, you will not be disappointed.
Age takes its toll on a roof. Nails, slates and tiles degrade which means that your roof becomes progressively less able to withstand water penetration and storm damage and at some point you may be faced with a re-roof. Slipping or missing slates and tiles can lead to a leaking roof. Leaking roof problems can lead to further problems within your home. Not only that, but missing slates and tiles can lead to a cold and draughty loft space which means you could be losing heat through your roof and therefore be spending more on your heating bills.
If you're thinking about protecting solving roof problems yourself, you will need to be aware that you can't apply polyurethane roof insulation yourself; it needs to be applied by a BUFCA accredited engineer.
Knowing what kind of roof problems you're up against is another question which is why most people opt to hire a roof repair company to take care of their roof repair needs.
