Rose Bowl Tickets - Projected Rose Bowl Participants

Even though the Rose Bowl is still a long way off on Jan

. 1, 2010, it's never too early to start thinking about the teams that will take the field this New Year's Day in sunny Pasadena, Calif. It looks like it's going to be a great matchup this year, and no matter who gets invited to play in the Rose Bowl, you should start checking out the available Rose Bowl tickets online. This year's event should sell out quickly, and remember, the Rose Bowl is all about pageantry and tradition. You'll get to see the awesome parade, the annual tradition that is fun even for those members of your crew who do not like football. But enough about roses and pageants-it's time to talk some gridiron. Who has the best shot of making the trip to Pasadena?

Oregon - Now we all know that the Rose Bowl will feature the winner of the Pac-10 and the winner of the Big Ten, unless either of those teams wind up making the actual BCS National Championship Game, which is slated to play at the Rose Bowl the week following the Rose Bowl Game, on Jan. 7th. It looks as though, from a quick glance at the BCS Week 13 Standings, that no Pac-10 or any Big Ten team has the numbers to make the Title Game. It's a shame, but it makes picking the participants in the Rose Bowl that much easier.

Oregon just elevated their chances with a gritty win this past weekend and taking down Arizona, one of their main Pac-10 rivals this year, 44-41 in double overtime. Oregon has now taken over the top spot in the conference with a 7-1 Pac-10 record and a 9-2 overall record. The Ducks are ranked 8th in the BCS. Their main competition right now is Oregon State, their in-state rivals, who will fittingly be their Dec. 3 opponents.

Ohio State - The Ohio State Buckeyes, ranked No. 10 in the latest BCS Rankings and No. 9 in the latest AP Poll, make a compelling case to get to the Rose Bowl this year. Actually, as of Nov. 22, 2009, the Buckeyes have wrapped up the Big Ten title. They won their last five games, including a defeat of their one threat, Iowa, in order to seal the deal. Barring an unlikely bid to the BCS National Championship Game, the Buckeyes are Rose Bowl-bound in 2010.

Oregon State - Remember how we mentioned above that the Oregon Ducks are, for the time being, in the top spot of the conference? Well, the Oregon State Beavers could come swimming in to take control of their share of the conference title from their water fowl Oregonian comrades if they can beat Oregon in Eugene on Dec. 3. Win there, and Oregon State will have the exact same record as the Ducks, 7-2 in conference and 9-3 overall. The OSU Beavers are currently ranked No. 16 in both the BCS and AP polls. Who do you favor in the Oregon-Oregon State game, the hometown team or the up-and-coming Beavers?
