Portland, Ore. is the place to be in January, especially if you are a basketball fan. Oregon teams will be defending their honor and hoping for the home court advantage when they go up against visitors like the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic and Arizona Wildcats. Fans can stake out a seat in the bleachers at either the Rose Garden or McArthur Court to root on the NBA's Trail Blazers or the NCAA's Ducks. The Portland Trail Blazers have been showing good offensive tactics on the court, especially backed by key players like LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden. But the team has also been offset by a string of injuries lately, which has cost them some wins on the road. They are looking to find their feet once again at the Rose Garden Arena when they go up against the Milwaukee Bucks on Jan. 13.

The Bucks have been suffering from some woes of their own lately, with a steady string of losses on the court, most recently against the Boston Celtics. Andrew Bogut is a strong player for the team and has recently been bettering his scoring average, but the Bucks will have to work hard on defense if they want to challenge LaMarcus, Oden and the rest of the Trail Blazers.

Two days later the Trail Blazers will host Orlando Magic at the Rose Garden. The Magic have been cleaning up their competition on the court on several occasions lately with very minimal losses, and they are looking to keep it that way when they test their skills against the Trail Blazers. Deron Williams has been busy racking up the points and scoring assists, while both Vince Carter and Dwight Howard have been instrumental in driving the Magic to victories, as well. The TrailBlazers will need to make sure that all team members are healthy when the Magic roars into town. The Magic's current standing in the NBA will be tough to beat.

Over in the college basketball circuit, the University of Oregon Ducks are preparing to host the Arizona Wildcats on Jan. 16 at McArthur Court. The Ducks' feathers have been ruffled lately with their recent stinging defeat by Missouri; most specifically the team has been having difficulty with their shooting skills. Offensively the team has been relying on Malcolm Armstead, LeKendric Longmire and Jamil Wilson to help pull them out of their slump.

The Wildcats will be tightening up their game for the Jan. 16 match; Arizona has been seeing success on the court and has been rallying thanks to the efforts of star players like Jamelle Horne and Nic Wise. Although they also have endeared a few recent defeats, the Wildcats will prove to be tough competition for the Oregon Ducks.
