Rose Garden Tickets - Sports And Entertainment Abound In Portland
The winter months may sweep in the colder temperatures in Portland
, Ore., but that shouldn't stop residents from venturing away from home. Portland has some of the best entertainment choices in the winter months, ranging from sports to concerts, theater and more. One of the hottest events during the winter months is basketball, courtesy of the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers.
Trail Blazers games are only part of the action on display at the Rose Garden. No matter what your entertainment tastes, you can get your pair of Rose Garden tickets online.
On Feb. 4, 2010, the place to be is the Rose Garden to see the Portland Trail Blazers take on the San Antonio Spurs. The teams faced off earlier in the season on Nov. 6, with the Trail Blazers coming out on top 96-84. Nate McMillan is in his fifth year as the Trail Blazers' coach, and he has some amazing weapons to work with this season. The team is led by stars like center Greg Oden, point guard Andre Miller, shooting guard Brandon Roy, center Joel Przybilla and power forward LaMarcus Aldridge. The Spurs have been a hard team to beat so far this season thanks to the talents of players like point guard Tony Parker, center Tim Duncan, shooting guard Manu Ginobili and small forward Richard Jefferson.
The Trail Blazers will be back in action again on Feb. 6, 2010 at the Rose Garden, when they host the perennially-competitive Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are the defending NBA Champions, and it is easy to see why with the level of talent on their team. It even extends to their coaching staff, as they are led by legendary coach Phil Jackson. Other top names on the team include shooting guard Kobe Bryant, center Andrew Bynum, power forward Pau Gasol and small forward Ron Artest. The teams faced off four times last season, with the Lakers taking the first two games and the Trail Blazers coming back to win the second two.
On Feb. 10, the Rose Garden switches from the place for sports to the place for top music when Elton John and Billy Joel bring their famous Face 2 Face Tour to town. This tour makes nearly every "best-of" tour list, and for good reason. John and Joel are both piano legends in their own rights, and this show ups the ante by bringing them on stage together. They both play solo sets during the concert as well as playing a selection of their famous hits together.
Elton John is known for songs like "Your Song," "Tiny Dancer," "Rocket Man," "Bennie and the Jets" and "Candle in the Wind." Joel has many hits of his own like "Piano Man," "Just the Way You Are," "My Life," "Uptown Girl," "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "I Go to Extremes."
Two days later, on Feb. 12, the fun continues at the Arlene Schnitzer Hall with Cheech and Chong. Few comedy duos have had the kind of staying power that Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong do. After rising to fame in the 1970s, they pursued other projects for a while. Now, they are back together and funnier than ever.
