Rounded Corner Business Cards Stand Out
I recently got myself two sets of the same exact business cards
. Well, with the exception of one small difference.
One set was just your typical stack of business cards.
The other set, the same thing. But with round corners.
It may seem like a small, inconsequential difference that wouldn't matter much at all.
But that's not the case at all.
Rounded corner business cards offer your recipients a completely different experience.
- The cards look different.
- They feel different.
- And yes, they receive a different reaction when you hand them to people.
Why?
Because different... stands out.
It's that simple.
In a vast majority of occasions when someone is given a business card, they are given the traditional (for lack of a better term) "pointy" edge variety. Now, it may be a small and subtle difference, but the round corners provide enough uniquness that people will take a deepr look at your business card. They'll run their fingers along the rounded edge.
To get the maximum response from your business card, it needs to be an engagement tool.
That is something that really grabs their attention. Something that essentially forces them to mentally process what it is they're looking at. (Actually, a recent study actually confirmed that a vast majority of business cards are hardly looked at before they're put away, because they didn't engage the recipient enough or make enough of an impression.)
In other words, whatever you can do to get people to look at - or remember - your card for a longer period of time is worth considering.
Now, is adding rounded edges to your business cards a sure-fire way to make them effective? By itself... of course not. But it's a great start.
It's also one of the most simple, versatile, affordable, and widely available options for making your business card unique that exists.
Ask yourself...
What other unique business card material or shape promises the same flexibility that rounded corners provide? Many shapes limit the amount of space you've got to fit your contact details, call to action, or graphics. Some materials prevent you from using the back of the card completely (which I find is a perfect opportunity to transform what would otherwise be just a plain old contact card into a powerful and memorable ad).
Plus, Still other unique card varieties are surprisingly time-consuming to set up.
That's not the case with rounded corner business cards!
In fact, on some websites, adding rounded corners is as easy as clicking your mouse (see the link below).
And it's rarely more than a few extra dollars.
When you compare that to other things you can do to make your cards stand out (like get metal ones, or emboss them, or choose a unique die-cut shape, or hire an expensive graphic designer) rounded edges are surprisingly cost effective! They offer a lot of bang for your buck!
The bottom line?
Business cards with rounded corners stand out!
If you weren't certain before, take it from a guy who is looking at two otherwise exact cards at this very moment. You might think it's a small difference, but that doesn't mean it can't produce a whole lot of impact!
