Routine Pest Control Maintenance Makes Sense
Too many homeowners and business owners still believe that a once-a-year regular
inspection coupled with as-needed pest control measures are sufficient to ward off pest infestation. But this is so far from the truth and, unfortunately, most will suffer the consequences.
The importance of implementing routine pest control maintenance measures cannot be overemphasized for several reasons. First, pests like rodents and insects have extremely high reproduction rates that no one-time pest control method can effectively eliminate in one go.
For example, rodents like rats and mice reproduce at an astonishing rate of a million descendants in just 18 months from one set of parents alone! Cockroaches also have extremely fast reproduction rates although the actual numbers will vary between species (i.e., American and German). It is such a rapid rate of reproduction that necessitates a routine pest maintenance program ostensibly to stop the growth rate at all points of the pests' life cycles.
Yes, even the best routine pest maintenance program will not completely stop rodents, insects and other pests from trying - and actually succeeding - to invade the home. But with the program in place, a small invasion can easily be defeated so that it does not become a full-fledged infestation.
Second, it is easier to prevent an infestation of pests than to eliminate the colonies making their homes in and outside of the home. The adage about prevention being less costly in terms of time, energy and money than the remedy is true here, too.
For example, when your house already has signs of rat infestation via the feces droppings, urine pools and makeshift nests, you must call in the professionals to eliminate these pests. The work will be more labor and material-intensive, which means higher fees for the pest control professionals.
If only you have implemented the year-round pest control measures recommended by the professionals in the first place, then you would have not suffered the consequences. The damage to your furniture, fixtures and appliances as well as the exposure to rat-borne diseases like leptospirosis, Q fever and typhoid fever, not to mention the adverse health effects of exposure to cockroaches and bed bugs, are just a few of these consequences.
So, if you have yet to implement a routine pest control program in your home and office, do so now! Call the professionals for the best guidance on this matter.
