When we talk about rugby football, we are actually referring to rugby union and rugby league
. These two are separate entities but it still refers to the same sport in the name of rugby. They may differ in the number of players and some of the rules imposed in the game but the primary concept of the game is still there. To further separate the two, union is for amateurs while league is for professional players.
Rugby has existed throughout the centuries and has been passed down from generation to generation and is now spreading in popularity throughout the entire globe. There are different versions of football and rugby is just one of them. Rugby in itself has different versions as well such as fifteens, sevens and tens. Rugby has even existed now in the United States and it has evolved into what we now call as the American football.
Usually, rugby union is for Europe while rugby league is for New Zealand and Australia. All of these countries take interest in this sport, which is popular throughout the rest of the world. Rugby football has some similar characteristics with the American football, which has emerged in the United States but even though this is the case differences in the way the game is played is still apparent.
Rugby league clubs often stand out and distinct in itself. The game consists of two opposing team with 15 players each and is played for two 40-minute halves. The American football takes more time than this 80-minute game play and has a much slower pace since the game field is reset for each tackle. The very first Super Bowl that the Americans have was held in the year 1954 and since then has been continuously evolving.
The World Cup has been adapted by rugby league clubs that existed throughout the countries with their own representing teams and there are a lot of nations that are now members of the International Federation of the rugby league. The league has now reached out to youth and women, which made the concept of rugby football general and quickly adapting to new ideas.
Rugby league clubs have extended in popularity beyond the lines of the UK and Europe and have crept in the boundaries of nations like England as have previously been mentioned.
