1) Drop the "what is in it for me?" attitude / mindset

2) Listen first - take notes

3) Build a relationship

4) Give the first referral and often / be their wingman

5) Do not tell others of the referral you desire; "show them" with a story

6) Be specific of the type of referral

7) Reciprocate when appropriate

8) Participate in the network executive, functions and network time

9) Thank the person publicly who gave a referral

10) Follow up on the referral within 24 hours

Business networking is productive and fun.

That is why it will always be part of the Bigger Picture.

Networking events have been part of the business and social scene for as long as anyone can remember. The foundation for our business models today goes back in time to the first networkers who traded goods.

For many network marketers, making a visit to the dentist is fun and great socializing. For others, networking events are like going to the dentist and less enjoyable. Some, at network marketing events, wish they had scheduled a visit to the dentist instead.
