Use a Facebook campaign where people can input their zip codes and then have them directed to a specific opt-in page for that region. This is a great way to easily segregate your lists by region, it not only saves you time, it's instantaneous! Isn't technology a wonderful tool!
In my honest opinion, I think Obama did a really good job using social media during his campaign, and I will tell you, I think when it comes to running for political office; social media is a great way to interact with the public. Of course, you are still going to have to get out there in the community and talk to people.
