Running Injury-free Secrrets - How To Use Body Awareness To Run Without Pain Or Injuries

Injury-free running is something every runner out there strives for

. Although running brings lots of benefits to your body and mind, it can be painful, hard, and sometimes harmful. But the solution is simple, in fact, it lies within you-your inner ear.

Our bodies know what's best for us; they always communicate with us their needs and limits. If we just listen enough, we could create miracles out of thin air, but the problem we face today is that most of us have lost awareness of what is happening inside of us and we really need to get in touch with our bodies if we really want to go the extra mile.

Your body will tell you what you can or can't handle- if you just listened enough. But many runners don't want to take the time to listen and get in touch to how their bodies respond to stress. Constant improvement is about applying and adapting to stress. Apply the right amount and you adapt, but if you go too far, you will be setting the stage for poor performances, injuries and illnesses.

If you just listen to your body well enough, you will be creating feed back loops that will allow you to get in tune to what your body says and be able to respond to its signals properly, therefore you will have a better chance of avoiding pains and injuries, and make the most out of your training session.

How to Listen To Your Body

The best way to be more aware of your body is by taking mental pictures of how you felt before, during and after running and think about what is changing. Here is a checklist of questions that will make the task easier on you:

- Are there parts of the body hurting or feeling stiff before, during and after you run?

- Do you have any illness or discomfort in our body?

- Are you experiencing any lower energy levels?

- Do you have any injuries, stiff or sore muscles?

- Has you breathing improved to the point where you feel comfortable drawing that much oxygen into your lungs?

- Have you reached your 30 minutes of jogging without stopping?

- Are you still fatigued from your last run?

- Is you heart rate too high in the morning? If it is, you haven't recovered from the previous day's training, and your body needs rest to recover

- How can you tell if you are failing to adapt?

- When are you at your best?

- What are your cycles?

Remember, this is a skill and needs time to develop. Don't be harsh and judgmental on yourself if don't get the desired results from the first shot. Give it sometime and you will be amazed at how effective it is.
