Another leading cause of accidents are DUI's. When drivers drive drunk, there reaction time is lowered and the chances of an accident increase. If you have been drinking, make sure you get a designated driver or take a cab home so you don't get a DWI or get into an accident that can not only injure yourself but others.
Another tip for safe driving is to not eat while you are behind the wheel. Eating is a big distraction and can cause you to not pay attention to what is going on around you. For you women you also need to stop putting on your makeup while driving. Again you should be focused on the road and not your mascara. A fourth tip for safe driving is to not speed and always obey the speed limit. I know people are in a rush to get from point A to point B but they shouldn't have to speed to get there. If you need to be somewhere at a certain time make sure you leave early so you are on time. Speeding is one of the leading causes of accidents and should not be done.
