The specifics depend on the type of tattoo you want to remove: amateur tattoos may take 1-4 treatments, with 4-8 week intervals between each, while deeper-set, professional-caliber tattoos can take up to ten treatments, each as much as 2 months apart. Laser tattoo removal will be more successful for some than others. Because the laser acts on the dark pigment color within the ink, the most successful cases will be those with darker ink colors against lighter skin tones. In general, lighter ink colors are harder to distinguish from the skin itself. This doesn't mean that the laser will destroy darker skin tones! The process is safe and non-invasive, meaning no needles or chemicals, and no major side effects.
