We all know the benefits of using a luggage rack for our car during road trips, vacations, and camping. It helps us save space in carrying all the bags and equipments we need for our perfect getaways.

But, we also have to regard that there are other inconvenience that luggage racks may cause. We should remember that safety comes first in everything we do. So read on and familiarize yourself with the disadvantages of luggage racks.

We have to consider the material which the luggage racks are made of. Luggage racks can be made from aluminum, elastic bands, and steels. Steels are the heaviest material that luggage racks can be made of. This means that the weight of the steel adds to the weight of the car (which is heavy enough already).

If the car is already overweight, it may cause it to bob and may cause accident if not controlled by the driver. So we have to remember that weight is a factor in avoiding road accidents. We should check the weight of our luggage and keep it to a certain range so to evade safety problems.

We also have to remember that the height of the car plus the height of the luggage racks are important to consider our safety when using the car. We have to take note of height limits to some roads ranging from 10-15 feet.

We have to be careful that there are some other bridge tunnels that may not let us pass with our mounting luggage racks because of their short height limit for cars and trucks. Let us not forget to avoid swelling up our luggage especially for those we put on the roof racks or carriers.

The types of things we put on our luggage racks may cause disadvantages for us. We have to bear in mind those liquids such as water and fuel container may also cause bobbing or shaking of the car especially during turns. The bobbling of the car may be hard for the driver to manage.

Thus, the car and the people in it become prone to road accidents. Other luggages that may cause wobbling of the car are heavy bags carried at the back of the car. It is safer to put heavy bags on the roof racks than to put it at the back racks to avoid bobbling of the car.

The next time we load those luggage racks on our car's roof or back, let us keep in mind the safety of the people who will ride with us for the trip and let us not forget to have fun with that perfect vacation.
