Safety In The Kitchen
Our home is the only place where we find pure comfort and definite security
. We ensure that everything is safe - doors closed, knobs locked and even do double checking. Others would even install sensors around the house. These sensors are mostly used to detect burglars, smoke and fire - all these just to have a good rest every night.
However, despite these protections and precautions, accidents still happen; whether we are inside the house or not. Some may be fortunate to be saved; sadly for others, they lose their loved ones in these accidents.
One of the most common accidents in the home is fire due to appliances left on, such as stoves. The safest abode we have can be turned into ashes if we are not too careful enough. What makes it worse, even lives can be lost.
Preventive measures can be done; that is, by making sure that all appliances are turned off when not in use. Stoves should also be properly switched off to avoid gas leak. The control knobs of stoves are designed to control the flame. But sometimes, flames go off even if the knob was not turned to the off positionleaving us confident that it was already turned off. This is what usually fires an accident.
Luckily, brilliant minds always come up with greater ideas from these events. Stove manufacturers now make sure to install mechanisms in their appliances to ensure safety of the consumers.
Flame safety device is among these add-ons. What it basically does is to control the gas supply of the stove through its thermocouple; which when heated, remains open. When the thermocouple cools down, the gas supply is automatically shut offthis way preventing gas leak.
Flame failure devices or commonly known as flame safety devices come in different variations. Some types do not wait for the thermocouple to cool down but as soon as the fire is extinguished, the gas supply is already cut off. This is especially designed for stoves placed near windows where flame is easily blown off by the wind.
Before buying yourself a stove, always check if it has a
flame safety device installed in it. If yours do not have one, you can always buy from the local appliance shop near you.
