The dog size has a lot to do with the strength of the jaw. Toys that are ideal for a Cavalier King would not be ideal for small terriers.A terrier may be a small dog, but the strength of its jaws is superb and hence, they need toys like Kongs that are normally used by bigger breeds of dogs.

Refrain from giving toys that have moving parts

Toys that have moving parts are dangerous and hazardous.These could easily fall off or break and hence your pet could suffer from choking.Refrain from giving balls that have bells within. Your dog could swallow the bell and it could result in choking.Similarly, the toy should not have any openings. Some toys like rubber balls sometimes have a hole and your pet's tooth could get stuck in this hole, making it difficult for the dog to release their jaw.

Toys with squeakers normally have metal parts, which may prove to be risky to the dog.The metal bits could prove to be fatal in some circumstances.Do not use very cheap toys since they contain lead paint.Hence, opt for a good quality toy, even if it means an extra cost, and also buy toys that specify that they are safe for babies.

Very tough plastic toys can break off when dogs chew these toys.Moreover, the sharp edges could harm the jaws, mouths, throat and paws of the dog.Choose softer plastic toys or latex toys, as they will not cause any problem, even if the dog happens to swallow any broken pieces. It can easily be eliminated when they pass a stool.

These plush dog toys are available in practically all shapes and sizes and you could buy them for your dog with squeakers, as well as without squeakers.There is the chance of a choking hazard when your dog bites on them.It is advised that dog owners should ensure enough supervision, lest your dog bite on any of the toys and choke accidentally.
