Safety Tips For Spring Break Cancun

Your college spring vacation can be a great time

. You can get to your destination, have fun with your friends, and go home with happy memories. Make sure when you are on your spring break Cancun that you abide by a few safety measures so that all you go home with are great memories.

If you are close enough to drive, make sure to wear your seat belt while on the road. Make sure that the people in the vehicle who plan on helping you with the driving all have a valid driver's license. Make sure that registration and insurance are valid as well before starting your trip.

When booking your hotel room, choose a room above the first floor. First floor rooms are typically easier targets for burglary. Also try to remain below the sixth floor. Usually anything above the sixth floor is a harder escape route than the floors below. Whenever in the room make sure that all doors are securely locked. When checking in, scope out the escape routes such as ladders and stairs in case of emergency.

If you need to find an ATM, go in groups. Check out the area where the ATM is located. If you are not comfortable with the area, or see something suspicious go to a different location. Make sure to get the ATM during the daylight, avoid pulling cash at night.

Spring break is all about partying. You are going to have fun with your friends, meet new people and see new places. Yes, but when you're partying make sure to party safe and smart. This means if you plan on consuming alcohol make sure to pace your drinks. Avoid hard liquor because they kick in much quicker than their softer counterparts. Monitoring your alcohol consumption is essential because if you are drunk you become an easier target for malice.

If you plan to drink while on the beach, be aware that the sun's heat can speed up alcohol's effects. Again, pacing yourself is essential. Also make sure to keep hydrated by drinking a lot of water. If you feel yourself feeling nauseous, seek out shade, water and sit down.

If you will be swimming, swim only in areas under lifeguard supervision. The strongest swimmers can find themselves in trouble in strong currents. Make sure you stay within the allotted swimming area on the beach. Always pair up with a friend if you plan on going out to swim.
