Sales Jokes Improve Morale And The Bottom Line

Research indicates that we all need a good laugh from time to time. It improves our mood and from the perspective of business it is a far more enriching environment if members of the staff are able to relax and enjoy good jokes about sales or other funny anecdotes during their working day.

Most employees recognise the importance of getting the job done and getting it done efficiently but if this is only what management focuses on then the likelihood is that the business will experience high staff turnover. It is a very simple process to encourage humour in the workplace.

If management are advised that they should aim to include staff in the telling of a sales training joke or some other entertaining general commentary then the business will reap the rewards as staff become more communicative with one another and feel increased loyalty to the company and to ensuring that they put in the required effort to make sure their division performs at its best.

While management will generally focus on sales as the area that has the greatest impact on the bottom line profitability of the business, often increased activity in the accounts department can significantly improve the cash flow of the business also. This can be vitally important during tough economic times.

It must be acknowledged that administrative work can be dull but this can be turned around simply by reassuring management and staff that jokes about sales or administration or even management are welcomed. The attitude of staff will change immediately if they feel relaxed about telling sales jokes in the work environment because it increases morale and the feeling of team spirit.

This in turn motivates staff to perform at their best for the team at all times and as a result staff turnover will reduce and bottom line profitability will be enhanced.
