Sales and Sales Management Jobs, How the Resume Cover Letter made a difference
Sales and sales management jobs are an integral part of a companies business. They're the driving force behind the success of the company. Without a sales force there's nothing for the rest of the team to do. Simply put, it's the life line to the business.
To secure a sales and sales management job you have to focus on what you bring to the table directly related to the companies' ability to capture that business and turn it into profit. The best way to do this is of course to have a stable list of clients that you bring to the table that can be easily converted to the new company. After all the personal relationship you have is what keeps them there. That's where salesmanship works its magic. This is assuming you're applying in the same field of work and you aren't completely new to the business.
Now how do you get to that point where you can present what you have? It's not enough to say I have this client base, not always. How do you spike the interest of the interviewer? Without sounding like all you have is an account to sell and nothing else to bring to the table? The way you sell yourself to them for the position is going to be the way they see you selling the company to potential clients.
I've always found it useful to learn a little about the company I'm applying to and submit a custom resume and cover letter. For this I use a resume and cover letter program that makes it easier to put together a letter that gets noticed, especially if I'm sending out a few at a time. Sales and sales management jobs because they're so important to a company, can be challenging to get if you're not well informed. That was my experience.
Many places as I mentioned want only the most professional sales people they can find. The way you present yourself to them is the way they'll see you presenting yourself to potential customers. You will be one of the first impressions a potential customer has of the company and that is value, to you. The better you present yourself the better you'll represent the company you work for.
To sum it all up, be as professional as possible, sell your assets and present yourself in a manner that they will inevitably envision you will present yourself to potential customers. It's natural for an employer or interviewer for a sales and sales management job to make that comparison. That's what worked best for me.
