Solution:

(b). U2 = '(6+ 11)/2' = '17/2' = 8.5
(c) Population consisting of the sums of any member of U1 and any member of U2 is
5+6=11, 10+ 6=16, 12+6=18
5+11=16, 10 + 11 = 21, 12 + 11 = 23
= U1 + U2 = {10, 15, 17, 15, 20, 22}
U1 + U2 = '(10+15+17+15+20+22)/ 6'
= 16.5
