The Samsung Galaxy Player 50 is an Android-based multi touch portable media player

offering good connection magic and android features along with Samsungs trademark additions that have made other Samsung devices popular. The device is projected to offer a much stiffer competition to the iPod touch due to the fact that the Android platform it uses already has an existing user and developer base. The Galaxy player has a price tag of around $149.99 which is much cheaper than the lowest capacity of iPod touch. This price difference will almost certainly bring it some attention.

Basically, the Galaxy player 50 is like a phone without the telecommunications. Some of the specifications of this phone include measurements of 105 mm x 54 mm x 11mm which makes it light and easily pocket able. I come with a 3.2 inch touch screen that is capable of supporting many colors and has a resolution of 240 x 400. On the side of this phone there is a power button and volume controls. At the top is a 3.5 mile miters headphone jack and on the back is the opening for the speakers close to the lens for the 2-megapixel camera. For connectivity purposes the galaxy has a Bluetooth 3.0 for connectivity.

This device is powered by Android version 2.2 operating system which enables it to function much better and it can offer many functionalities. This phone works together with Samsungs Touch Wiz version 3.0 interface that has customizable homepages which are easy to swipe such that the user can drop bookmarks, widgets and shortcuts. There is a fixed bar at the bottom that offers music, video, browser and application access. The internal memory storage of this phone is 6 Giga Bytes and there is also a micro SD card slot that is also provided should there be a need for expansion of storage. Because of the Android running it, the Galaxy player 50 comes with the full Google Android suite such as Talk, Google Market, mail, Maps, YouTube, Voice search and Email. For social networking, the user can download and install the respective applications with ease. The device also comes with an FM radio, A GPS and G Sensor.

The advantage of this phone is that it offers the user full Android suite of applications. The Galaxy player 50 made by the South Korean company Samsung Corporation has a noble idea but still falls way below the quality level of the iPod touch and therefore needs more work on it, especially the software.
