Samsung Launches The Brilliant Galaxy Tab

The new Galaxy Tab from Samsungs is the manufacturers first attempt at the ever growing tablet market

. Hot on the heels of the iPad from Apple, the unit not only looks great but performs very well.

Functionality wise the Galaxy Tab is the best Tablet device available. Speed wise it zips along at a great speed thanks to a great chip set that includes a ARM Cortex A8 1Ghz processor and 512MB of RAM. These impressive stats are further enhanced by the fact that the device also incorporates a Powervr SGX540 graphics card. The unit is able to perform as a mobile phone, not that this will prove a huge selling point, however there will be times where this proves an advantage. This is thanks to the device being able to accept a SIM card, this slot also allowing the tablet to achieve 3G connectivity which offers the user the best possible online connection. It also enables EDGE and GPRS should you not be able to establish a 3G connection. The Galaxy Tab also boasts WiFi facilities, thus when you can connect to a viable network you can take advantage of the fastest possible online connection. Memory wise there is 16GB of internal storage space available for all manner of media files, and also a separate 2GB for applications. A micro SD card slot is also present should you ever need to increase storage capacity, with the machine able to accept cards up to 32GB.

A host of excellent multi media functions are available on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. These include dual digital cameras, one on the rear of the unit and another front facing. The front one is ideal for video calling, all though the device does not support Skype at present. Should you want to capture photographs then this lens does so at a resolution of 1.2 million pixels. The second camera is more comprehensive and features auto focus and an LED flash. At 3.15 mega pixels image quality is superb, as is the video capture which looks great in 720P HD resolution. Viewing movies on the Tab also looks superb, with a variety of video formats able to be accepted and the 600 x 1024 resolution screen making everything look crystal clear. Up to 16 million colours can be displayed on the screen, which also incorporates an accelerometer chip in order to perform the essential auto rotate functions.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab really is a great tablet device. Size wise it is perfect, behind the scenes the chip set is ample for any tasks you wish to perform, and the unit is very pleasing on the eye.
