Earlier th year HTC came up h again wth th Touch Diamond, adding a VGA spectacle n a nw UI t th mix. Wh t mht b a bit late t th party, Samsung h forth th SGH-i900 Omnia t hw, n a h way, tht t, t, n compete n th Windows Mobile multimedia smartphone front. Wth features k a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, up t 16GB f built-n storage, a built-n GPS, n automatic screen rotation, th Omnia rtn h a lot f WinMo fans drooling.
Physical Aspects
Lk many similar devices, th finger touch oriented Samsung Omnia bears a simple point. Th front dominated b th 3.2 WQVGA resolution (240400 pixel) touchscreen spectacle. Th spectacle flush mounted, whh means tht a fingerprint free screen never more thn a pants leg swipe away. Below th spectacle one finds th call send n n keys, n th optical "mouse" directional controller, whh replaces a conventional d-pad. A graphite colored chrome rim frames th front f th Omnia, n I w surprised tht t stayed quite n looking. Th sides f th Omnia r m f a semi-interpretation black plastic, n th back cover, whh home t th camera n flash, m f a rk matte plastic wth a brushed n.
Th n thr items f note r found n th edge f th phone. Th left edge home t th Samsung potential/receiver/USB connector n a lanyard loop, n th rht edge whr th volume, camera, n Samsung menu keys r found. A somewhat finicky potential/standby pin n th top edge f th phone, next t n ancient-school reset pin. Thr n externally accessible microSD card slot, though. Th microSD slot found under th rear cover n requires tht th battery b removed n order t access t. Sn th Omnia h 8 r 16GB f internal storage, n a qk USB connection, tht's nt t much f a hassle.

M n gripe tht th WQVGA spectacle mk th phone taller thn t w otherwise need b, n reaching th high rht hand corner f th contrivance, whr Windows Mobile places th constantly used OK n X buttons, n b quite hard wth one hand even fr somebody wth large hands.
Wh I m nt a h fan f th optical mouse, I still reflect tht Samsung h done a pretty nt job wth th SGH-i900 Omnia frm n overall point perspective.
