Samsung Tocco Lite Review
LG launched its budget touchscreen phones LG Cookie
. Surprisingly, the phone was a immediate hit and woke up other slumbering giants. Nobody thought that there is such a big market for budget touch phones. LG Cookie is quite a deal with touchscreen, loads of features and gadgets at a very affordable price. Predictably, Samsung had to respond. Thus was born, Samsung Tocco Lite - Samsung's answer to LG Cookie.
Samsung Tocco Lite is coming 6 months after the launch of LG Cookie. So Samsung Tocco Lite has much better hardware and features. Right? WRONG! Samsung Tocco Lite specs are very similar to LG cookie and are pricier! So why should you buy Samsung Tocco Lite and not LG Cookie? Let's find out.
Both phones are similar in size. In fact the screens are also identical in type, size, colour definition and pixels. Tocco Lite has 3 inch screen and high resolution with Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. This works quite well on Tocco Lite. The TouchWiz technology has now matured quite considerably. There are Mobile widgets that enable let you to customize phone's home screen and give easy access to apps such as the clock, weather forecast, etc. Apps for MySpace, Facebook and YouTube are also provided for those who cannot live without social networking. It has a built-in accelerometer sensor will automatically rotate the screen when you turn the phone on its side, so you can easily switch between portrait and landscape modes just like in LG Cookie. The virtual QWERTY keyboard is easy to use. Since, it has physical keys for call, send and select, the operations are lot more easy than a full touchphone. The phone also supports handwriting recognition and gesture lock.
Samsung Tocco Lite has a 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom. Smile Shot feature lets you take a photo when your subject is smiling. You can also edit your photos on the camera itself. A basic camcorder is available too. Music player, FM radio with RDS, and support for downloadable MP3 ringtones are provided. Audio quality is first-rate, with a virtual 3D surround effect, an equalizer and support for DNSe. The memory is comparable to the Cookie's, and is expandable to 16GB with a microSD card. Connectivity options are also similar - Bluetooth and USB. There's no WiFi and no 3G. The web browser is excellent and large screen makes it a delight. It has easy access to RSS feeds, Google Mail, Google Search and Google Maps.
The lack of RG may blemish your internet experience but this is a budget phone and you cannot have everything. Battery life is fine.
All in all it is a good budget touch screen phone, which is almost similar to LG Cookie. Both have comparable features and size. There are no clear winners in this war.
