San Diego Chargers - From 1960 Till Today

California's Chargers are known as the Super Chargers and the Bolts

. Paying their home games at the Qualcomm Stadium, they are the only team to have made the playoffs with a 0-4 and a 4-8 start to a season in 1992 and 2008, respectively. Their first season in 1960 was spent in Los Angeles, before they moved to San Diego in 1961. Part of the Western Division of NFL and AFC, the San Diego's team started off in the American Football League in 1961 and won the title in 1963.

Five times at the playoffs and four times at the Championship in the AFL, the Chargers have reached the AFC playoffs ten times and the Championship four times after joining the National Football League in 1970. And the 1994 season when the San Diego's team lost to the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl XXIX is also memorable in the history of the club.

For the 2010 draft, the order followed the format that was laid down at the 2009 annual owners meeting; the teams that reach the playoffs get to pick their player before the teams that do not, and the teams that advance further get to pick their player later. In the 2009 draft, for example, the Chargers picked 16th - ahead of several teams that had not reached the playoffs in 2008. Also, the San Diego's team picked ahead of a team they had defeated in the 2008 games, the Indianapolis Colts, who had the 27th pick.

This year, the San Diego Chargers went with Ryan Mathews, an RB from Fresno State in the first round - for the 12th pick. The Chargers are the favorites in AFC West for the upcoming season, and many fans are eagerly looking forward to watching them play in the 10th season of the NFL.
