The Virginia-based hotel management company, Salamander Hotels & Resorts
, has been chosen to manage the luxury Sanctuary Cap Cana resort as it transforms from a couples-only property to a traditional resort.
Families will be able to take Dominican Republic holidays at the resort now managed by Salamander for the first time ever from this December onwards as the company aims enhance the property to make it a winner of the American Automobile Association (AAA) Five Diamond award.
Salamander Hotels & Resorts has added the resort to its Grand Resorts of Cap Cana collection which includes top luxury Dominican Republic hotels such as the Fishing Lodge and Ocean Club.
CEO of Salamander Hotel & Resorts, Sheila C. Johnson, explained: "The Sanctuary is one of the most stunning hotels in the Caribbean and is a jewel of the Dominican Republic.
"We have been working with the existing staff, elevated the already high levels of service through extensive training and created new, indigenous programming to achieve AAA's highest rating - which is what Resort Owner Corporacion Hotelera Internacional (CHI) deserves."
Business at the luxury oceanfront Sanctuary Cap Cana will carry on as normal during the transition period and all existing reservations and weddings booked prior to the time when Salamander Hotels and Resorts took over the former Secrets resort property will be honoured. New all inclusive hotel packages have been added to the resorts offerings and include recreational activities and full meal plans for visitors of all ages. Adults and couples (with no children) enjoying Dominican Republic holidays at the resort will be able to stay at "The Castle"; a unique adults-only upscale hotel that includes swim-out villas, its own reception area, a bar and lounge, and a tranquil infinity pool that overlooks the sparkling Caribbean Sea.
The former Secrets-branded AMResorts property is situated just 15 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport and offers tropical Caribbean surroundings including white sand palm-fringed beaches, lush tropical gardens and turquoise ocean waters.
The property has elegant suites and villas with ocean views; five a la carte gourmet restaurants; several casual and sophisticated bars and lounges; five swimming pools; a lavish spa; and 18,000 square feet of meeting space and facilities. Tourists can enjoy a range of activities during holidays to the Dominican Republic resort, including beach volleyball, badminton, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkelling, as well as access to Jack Nicklaus-designed signature golf courses including Punta Espada and Las Iguanas.
Juan Pelayo, the President of the resorts owners, Corporacion Hotelera Internacional (CHI) added: "We are delighted to unite our collection of resorts under Salamander's unique style of management.
"We have made this transition carefully, fully respecting our existing and future guests. The Sanctuary is a very special resort and provides the type of luxury experience which is rare to find."
