Saving Your Marriage After You've Cheated Is It Even Possible

Is saving your marriage after you've cheated on your spouse even possible? It's hard to hold on to a GOOD marriage these days with so many distractions and excuses to call it quits. Many couples turn tail and run at the first sign of trouble.

Cheating isn't the first sign of trouble though. For some marriages, cheating is the last cry of desperation. In other words, cheating can be a huge wakeup call for marriages. Unfortunately, for many marriages, infidelity is the final swan song.

Can a marriage be saved after cheating?

It happens all the time so that answer is a resounding yes. But here's the kicker. It takes work to make a marriage work (before and/or after cheating). Marriage is a roller coaster ride for many. There are ups and downs, twists and turns, and a lot of love in the middle.

It shouldn't be easy to walk away from a marriage even when something major has happened within the marriage like cheating. It should be as hard as (some very dark and uncomfortably warm space) to walk away.

Sadly, in today's society, walking away seems to be the first choice or the "knee-jerk" reaction for marriages that are encountering the first signs of real trouble like cheating.

Your marriage can be saved but you're going to have to do a few things to make that happen. Cheating is a big deal and not something that can just be overlooked, ignored, and then forgotten.

It's the white elephant in the corner that needs to be dealt with before you have a big stinking pile of elephant chips in the corner and can't stand to be in the room without clothespins on your nose.

So what is it that you need to do in order to save your marriage after cheating?

You need to make sure that your spouse knows the affair has ended first and foremost. Saving your marriage will be next to impossible if your spouse is afraid you're going to see the "other" person every single time you walk out the door.

Next, you need to reassure your spouse that you CHOSE to be there. You WANT to save your marriage and make it work. You BELIEVE in what you have together. And, most importantly, that you LOVE your spouse. Put it into your words and do whatever it takes to make your spouse get your meaning.
