Physically, your health is affected, you will lose weight and you will get sick easily

. Mentally, you have difficulty concentrating, and your brain seems to have shut down that you cannot decide on your own. Socially, you withdraw from your friends and parents therefore impairing your relationship with them. This is actually alarming, and you have to act on it immediately.

To perk you up when you are depressed, try listening to music. Since you are depressed, do not choose a song that would add up to your already melancholic mood. Choose a calming music, but one that is lively and would help boost up your energy. Continue listening to the calming music for a few minutes and soon enough, you will be singing and dancing to it.

A calming music does not need to be one that it slow and peaceful, like the ones where you will hear the sounds of the birds, the ocean, and all of nature. While it is true that these things will definitely help you relax, it will all depend on your mood. Just like in this situation wherein you are depressed, you cannot possibly listen to this type of calming music. There are some of course that would prefer those but most people will not. Others would choose to listen to a musical piece that will increase their level of excitement. Just the sounds of the musical instruments alone such as the drums, will heighten up the energy of a person.

When you hear the lively beat of a calming music, your breathing and heartbeat will be increased. The production of serotonin in your body will also hasten. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter in the body that is important in regulating the mood. When this is increased, then your mood will be better, and you will feel less depressed.


For some people when they are feeling down, they would choose to play a song that will make them dance around. Whatever that song is, at the moment that they are depressed, it will be a calming music for them. For some, they would prefer to listen to songs with slow beats. A calming music would vary from one person to another but it is played for the same reason, to get out of that depressed state.
