The screen printing industry is on a growing path, there are so many opportunities available for new printers every day. With careful planning, you should have little to no trouble in setting up a successful business of your own. The most important thing to remember when starting any new company is that hard work and dedication will be an essential part of growing your company. I believe that how hard you work the first six months will determine the success of any company.

I also believe it is important that when you start your company you have a budget. The nice thing about the Screen Printing industry is that a number of suppliers will be eager to supply you easy-to-use printing kits and setup packages to help you get started. When choosing the right set up for your company there is a few things to keep in mind. Where will you be setting the equipment up at? If printing in a two car garage or basement you will want to be mindful on how much room is needed to operate your press. Also it will be very beneficial to have a water source available for washing out screens and any other necessary utilities you might need (power, plumbing for waste water, heat ) Proper planning can and will save you money in the long run.

One of the hardest decisions I had to make is what the best setup was for us. I started printing shirts as a hobby; I bought the two station four color silver press from Ryonet in a package for around 1500.00 dollars. And in less than two months I upgraded to a Riley Hopkins six color four station press. When purchasing your equipment I highly suggest you look at the products that Ryonet has to offer. One of the main reasons for this is because of the customer support that you will receive from them. When you start printing shirts you will have questions that's a fact, and they will have answers. I attended a two day class that they put on that allowed us to get our hands dirty and print all kinds of shirts. I learned more in those two days than I would have learned in months of teaching myself. Also when we upgraded to the Riley Hopkins press, Ryan bought our Silver Press back at my full purchase price.

Many people have asked were did we get our business? The first job that we printed was for a soccer team that I coached. Sports organizations are one of the best clients we print for. The reason being is that orders that may cost hundreds of dollars is only costing each player or parent a small percent of that order. Schools and other large organizations are the same. Due to the downward spiral in the economy many companies that might have had hundreds of shirts printed simply aren't printing shirts at all. There will always be a market for printed apparel amongst the larger organizations, Baseball teams, Pop Warner Football, Boy Scouts, Kids Camps, Schools, Booster clubs the list is endless. If you know someone who needs t-shirts, you can offer your services and make a smaller profit. It is important that you do a good quality job. After you have completed a few jobs, you will likely get referred business by word of mouth. Word of mouth will be your biggest advertisement in the beginning and it is free.

Finally many of today's business are linked with websites and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. These are great ways to connect with the people you know and don't know to promote your company. It is important for people to know that your company exists. Take advantage of the internet and use as many of its resources to promote your company. And remember now that you own a screen printing company what better way is there to advertize than by printing a bunch of t-shirts with your companies name or logo and give them away for free.
