Screen resolution for the websites

A website has to be designed in such a way that it fits to all types of screens

. The website should be same in all resolutions higher than 800 x 600, and should be designed to fit the page exactly. Thus the visitors using higher screen resolution can see more content at one time one page which reduces scrolling. Mostly the designers design a website for one resolution which creates problem afterwards. The site may look perfect in 800 x 600 resolutions but when viewed in 1024 x 768 resolution the page looks empty making the website design look very small. Generally people use 1024 x 768 and higher resolution on their screens and as the time is moving ahead, more people will switch over to higher resolutions. Thus if website designed in today's world it has to be fit for all resolutions. This has become one of the basic principles to be followed while designing a website. There are certain steps to be followed with a bit of background information. First of all, you need to decide the lowest resolution for the screen, so that the website designing process can be started keeping this in mind. As per the research, the lowest resolution used by most of the visitors is 800 x 600, thus you can use this as the basis for designing a website. Once the resolution has been decided, you can start up with the website design, which means that all the graphics and images will be designed in the same resolution.

While designing the website, you have to convert the layout into HTML and need to work in terms of percentages not the pixels. The tables created in percentage gives a relative measurement as per the screen resolution already set for the web design. Making the table width to 100% and height to 100% creates the same page layout as desired; to get some white space on the page you can make it to 95%. The table for the content should be coded in such a way that it expands as and when more content is added to the page without disturbing the look of the site. Insert the images and content in the website design prepared, the logo has to be placed on the top left corner and systematically the navigation buttons are to be placed. The last and final step is to test the site in all resolutions; if the website is working successfully then you can start up its marketing process.
