This looked better to the reader, but the search engines would often only see a page with the same words listed over and over. This was one of the first types of content crawlers began to kick out. Spun articles, while not considered black hat techniques, are another atrocious blemish to the web when they are not edited properly. You have no doubt seen articles where phrases don't make sense or words appear in the wrong places, and as search engine marketing experts will advise, these will often be flagged as duplicate content.

Google and other search engines attempt to keep content up to quality standards, and it is recommended that you report any disreputable and unscrupulous activities that you find when you are surfing or doing research. People deserve to find information when they search the internet, not double talk and nonsense.
