First, you must have the keyword in the title tag. This allows the search engines to be able to tell what your site is about and then, in turn, allows you to rank for it. It's also good to have your keyword in the Meta keywords tag and Meta description tag for better attention. The next important thing to do is to have your keyword in the domain if possible. If it's not possible, then make sure it's in the URL. This helps to show relevance to the search engine that your page is indeed about the keyword and further your attempts at Search Engine Optimization. Having the keyword in the domain name, especially if it's an exact match is a huge ranking boost. At least having it in the URL will still rank your page above someone else who has the exact same keyword density throughout the rest of the page. It's also important to pay attention to keyword density on the page. This is a common measure of how relevant your page is. However, don't go crazy here.
