Keyword needs to be in Title, Header, and content.

Quality content that is relevant to your keywords.

Internal linking to other pages on your site if relevant.

Use Anchor text using keywords for internal linking.

Keep tags to minimum and most important keywords.

Use keyword in your URL.

Use your keywords along with relevant info in your description tag.

Those are the most important on page SEO factors you need to worry about before ranking for any keywords.

The next thing you want to do after that is gain trust from the search engines. How is this done?

This is a big part of your search engine placement marketing plan because without the trust of the search engines you will not rank very good! The most important thing now is to start an ongoing link building strategy. Building links from trusted authority sites, forums, blogs, web 2's, and articles is what you need to work on! I know its not rocket science but it can be a pain to always be finding your own high quality sites to link back from. Luckily there are ways to automate the part of finding quality sites to link from!
