Seattle is the largest city in Washington state and north-west United States of America
. It is located between Puget Sound and Lake Washington, about 155 km south of the US-Canadian border. It is the county seat of King County.
Seattle is one of the most important cities of the Pacific Coast of the United States. It's a major port specializes in transpacific trade. It is also a major industrial center in North America.
Covering an area of 369.2 km2, Seattle has 602,000 inhabitants (2009 ) that the English sappellent Seattleites. The Seattle metropolitan area totaled 3,427,200 inhabitants making it the 15th town of the United States. It was founded in the mid-nineteenth century and named in honor of the Indian Chief Seattle.
Seattle hosted the Third Ministerial Conference The WTO in 1999 which was accompanied by the first major anti-globalization demonstrations and the media.
Seattle is located between Puget Sound to Strategic Plans (a kind davance in the land of the ocean Pacific) and Lake Washington in ballast. The earthquake of 1949 caused the deaths of eight people in Seattle and that of 1965 caused the deaths of four people . However, neither the Seattle Fault, which runs south of the city nor the Cascadia NONT been at the origin of major earthquakes since the founding of the city, while the latter could cause a fault dune quake above magnitude 9, which would have dramatic effects on the city .
Seattle is often regarded as the birthplace of grunge music with artists and groups from the famous city like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Green River, Mudhoney and Screaming Trees. These groups have touched a wide audience in the 1990s . The city also has an avant-garde jazz musicians like Bill Frisell and Wayne Horvitz, rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot, saxophonist Kenny G, heavy metal band Nevermore, industrial rock band KMFDM, and pop groups rock / Aiden, Goodness and Presidents Of The United States of America.
The city of Seattle has been recognized for many years as an important regional center for live performances. Seattle Symphony Philharmonia plays mostly in Room Benaroya Hall is one of the most recorded orchestras in the world . Opera Seattle and the Pacific Northwest Ballet, who usually play in the room McCaw Hall are particularly famous for their performances in the recovery of works of Richard Wagner. In school that GNP School founded in 1974 is in the top three schools teaching ballet in the U.S. .
