Secrets For Taking Great Photos This Summer
Summer is nearly here, and professional and amateur photographers alike should be getting out and about, capturing great moments this season
. Summer can make for beautifully vivid photos, but there are a few tips that should help you capture the images you love. Take time this festive season to experiment with the beauty of the Australian summer, and get your friends and family involved too.
No Matter Where You Go, Always Bring Your Camera!
Whether you are vacationing overseas, on the coast, or simply going round to a friend's house - holidays are a great time to take relaxed and beautiful photographs. Take your camera with you and you will be surprised by the great shots you get. But don't focus only on the big moments and lose the little ones.
The details are often what make a photo. Whilst big family shots can look great, photos of the kids playing in the surf, a beautiful view or even a sunset casting a yellow glow on towels and buckets by the beach - the little moments of summer are just as important.
Avoid Harsh Light
While summer can provide some beautiful lighting, with afternoon glows and early morning sunrises - the harsh midday lighting can be unflattering for people and landscapes alike. Keep your photography to the beginnings and endings of summer days, for the best natural lighting.
Capture Colour
The vivid colours of summer can add heat to your photos and give them a unique impact that you wouldn't get during other times of the year. Adjusting saturation helps you get the most brilliant hues - so play around after you've taken the shot on Photoshop or even with the settings on your camera.
You can also capture the brilliant blues and cool colours of summer in the sky and ocean. Try to do so with the sun behind you so you have less glare and more vibrancy.
Avoid Overexposure
Overexposure is a problem for photographers shooting in summer. However it is easily overcome by increasing the shutter speed on your camera. Changing settings post photo is possible, but allows for fewer options, so try to remember this before you take your shots.
Showcase Your Work
Once you've taken some great shots - make sure they get seen. Your local library may have space for a small art exhibition, or you can just enjoy your photos at home. Printing your photos to canvas means they can be enjoyed with a great size print and quality image. Plus, they also make a great gift come Christmas time.
