Finding a new job in this economy can be very difficult

. Without some type of computer skills it can become almost impossible. Most jobs today require at least some familiarity with the computer. Basic computer skills include being able to use simple programs, such as, Microsoft Office or Open Office suites. A familiarity with email programs and being able to navigate the internet.

Now is a good time for anyone to update their skills by returning to school. The Government has increased the Pell Grant awards and made it easier for everyone to qualify for student loans. There is also a wide variety of scholarships that students can apply for.

No matter what the economy, people still get sick and need medical care. There is a growing need for people who are trained in medical billing and coding. This field even offers the choice of opening your own business from home.

Clerical skills no longer mean shorthand and typing, along with the ability to file papers in cabinets. Now clerical skills mean word processing, skills creating presentations with such software as power point, being able to maintain a database, and familiarity with email programs.

Technical training is needed for many jobs now. The internet is a growing environment that demands training if you wish to prosper while doing business there. This means that even in this poor economy there are still jobs to be found in the field of information technology. These can include, but are not limited too, taking calls at a help desk, web design, web development, software programmer, computer repair, and database manager, are a few of the jobs available for people with the right training.

Getting training in information technology will also help the person who is dreaming of working in the entertainment field. Thanks to Youtube and the internet, it is possible for anyone to make a video and get it seen by others.

The film industry is also going high tech. Hollywood is now making some of the most amazing films using computer programs and computer generated art. Whole worlds are being created and peopled with a wide variety of life forms all due to computer animation and blue screen technology.

The field of IT security is growing, too. Identity theft has become one of the greatest threats facing the corporate world today. There are also jobs in law enforcement to be considered.

Technical training can help ensure a better future with job security and higher pay scale.
