See The Beauty Of Charming Javea In The Costa Blanca From Your Villas In Alicante
Not too far from your VILLAS IN ALICANTE is the town of Javea or Xabia as it is known in Valencian
. It is a privileged enclave on the Costa Blanca and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places along the coast. With a wide variety of landscapes along with a mild climate and the open minds of the locals, Javea attracts and captivates all kinds of tourists.
After discovering the village Joaqun Sorolla, a 19th century Valencian landscape artist, was so impressed with the coastal setting that he wrote that the town was "sublime and immense". Even to this day, Javea continues to be a town rich in history linked to its sea faring past and proud to be one of the most exceptional natural scenarios along the Mediterranean coast.
The village is framed by the capes of Cabo de Sant Antoni and Cabo de La Nau, while the small town extends up the Costa Blanca in the northern part of the Alicante province. It is protected from cold winds by the Montgo Mountain, forming a natural barrier and maintaining a perfect year round climate. With its diverse landscape, beautiful coast and lush interior, controlled urban planning has meant that the countryside is left relatively unspoilt but still the town caters to the tourist trade that it is heavily reliant on for income.
The oldest evidence of human settlement there comes from the Upper Palaeolithic and Late Stone Age eras and is dated at over 30,000 years old. Discovered in the Cova Foradada caves nearby were the remains belonging to small nomadic groups which had occupied the cave: they were hunter gatherer groups. The first occupants of the cave Cova del Montgo also date to the Upper Paleolithic Age though more ceramic fragments were found and collective burial remains have been discovered as well as metal tools from the Bronze Age. Cave paintings, collective burial sites and Bronze Age objects also found dating from the Neolithic time. Similar items have also been found in the cave Cova del Barranc de Migdia while ruins from the Bronze Age have shown that small settlements existed on the hill summits such as Sta Llucia, Cap Prim, Alt de Capsades and Els Tossalets.
The Phoenicians and to a lesser degree the Greeks were the trading partners of the Iberians, bringing with them technical advances such as the wheel, pottery and new plant life. The Tesoro Iberico de Xabia or the Iberian Treasure of Xabia was accidentally discovered in the Lluca district in 1904. This treasure consisted of gold and silver artefacts from the 4th century BC to the 2nd century AD during a time when the Romans and Carthagians battled in the Punic Wars.
Other places of great interest to those visiting Javea from their
