Selecting A Cruise
Taking a cruise vacation can be great fun
Taking a cruise vacation can be great fun. With a cruise, one can travel to several destinations while only packing once. With all your meals included, this can really be a worry free and economical way of travel. I have traveled with several cruise companies booking a variety of rooms ranging from inside cabins, outside rooms with window view, balcony staterooms and suites. I personally believe the balcony staterooms are always worth the extra money. I have cruised on several different cruise ships, each one offering a little something different.
Carnival Cruise Line, know as the fun ship, traditionally caters to a younger crowd. Expect to really dress up for the Captains dinner. If you are a little older and perhaps a little more laid back on the party scene, you might consider avoiding cruising near high school graduation times. Carnival is a popular ship for high school graduation trips because of the cost and the fun type of activities the ship has. I have traveled during this time and found that a balcony room provided a great get away from the lively crowd. Booking a suite on this cruise ship is really not worth the extra money.
Norwegian Cruise Line is also reasonably priced. These ships are known for their free style dinning option. The dress is a little more casual here and the ships activities are more laid back. Upgrading to a suite is worth the extra money on this cruise line. With many of the suite upgrades come a lot of extras such as: complimentary champagne, wine, or sodas and fresh fruit delivered to your room prior to departure, yummy treats (like chocolate covered strawberries or cheese and cracker treys) delivered to your room each night, fresh flowers and private escorts, your own butler, priority boarding.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line offers a great cruise at a reasonable price. Like Norwegian, consider upgrading to a suite category that can provide the extras like the complimentary concierge club. This club provides an honor bar (self service bar with no fee), assistance with ticketing, and reservations to special events or activities.
Disney Cruise Line offers a unique experience. My family took advantage of the land and sea option (4 days at Disney World and 3 days on a Disney Cruise). This was probably the most talked about cruise our family has ever taken. Instead of having a floor on the ship dedicated to a casino, Disney had a floor dedicated to the children. This cruise company provided so many fun and unique childrens activities, it was difficult to get the children to leave all the fun. If you dont have children, dont worry. Disney offers plenty of adults only places to go. This cruise is a little pricier, but definitely worth it.
Cruising can be a great worry free family vacation. Be sure to take a little time to select both the cruise and room that is right for you. To plan your next cruise go to www.cruise2.globaltravel.com. For more information or ideas for great family vacations go to www.homemakerstip.com.
