Selecting Shelving For Any Room

When you are trying to decide what type of shelving will work best for you in the

different rooms and storage areas in your home, you certainly have a lot to choose from out there in the market! You might start by narrowing it down to the exact place you want to organize. Is it a practical unit of storage that is hidden or a decorative mantle? Within the range of possibilities for practical storage or decorative storage, think about the placement. Often designed with a sculpture or a carving, the sconce is a great way to add a romantic fare to ones living arrangement. These can be placed at the end of a long hallway with a mirror or alternatively along a wall in a small room which can add additional depth and light to a small and cramped space.

Even though they are planer, ledges are also quite useful and can easily be decorated with moldings and sturdy shelving for heavier items like antique books or toys. If you are short on space then consider creating a corner ledge that either hangs or is free standing which can add more character to the area and will provide additional storage for all of your collectables.

And if you have the time to visit some used furniture stores or antique stores, you can really create some character in your room by finding interesting units such as floor to ceiling 1950s styles, perhaps from a professor's office study. An antique bookcase even adds ambiance to the room with its stained and smelted wood. Whatever your living habits might be or whatever you want to create as a theme for the rooms of your home, you will be able to find a huge selection of storage solutions.

So put on your thinking cap, go out and find the type of wood or other material that will solve your problems, and go ahead and put those shelves up on your walls!
