Selecting Tv Mounts For Your Dental Office

It's amazing how the TV has nestled into the modern dental practice

. A TV in a dentist or orthodontist's office keeps the patient still, quiet, and entertained while the doctor does his work. It's a good situation for the doctor (who usually isn't the type of person who can conduct normal small talk anyway), and it's relaxing for the patient (who can zone out and pretend that two sets of hands are not shoved in his mouth). Walking into a dental office or patient waiting area without a TV would be almost as archaic as using antique dental instruments and administering a shot of whiskey in place of pain medication.

The placement of these happy little entertaining devices is important, however, since you can't very well have your dental hygienist tripping over TV stands or bumping into a TV mounted to a swivel arm. TV mounts are the best bet for most dental offices. These space saving devices can mount the TV to the wall or the ceiling (where, honestly, your patient will be best able to view it, recumbent as he is in the dental chair). There are several types of TV mounts to choose from, and all have various advantages. The key is to pick a TV mount that best meets the needs of your patients and your office staff.

In order to put yourself in your patient's shoes, try lying down on the dental chair in each patient treatment room. Adjust the chair in several positions. Look around, out the window, at the wall, at the ceiling. Based on this view of things, you will be able to see where the TV mount can best be placed to give your patients a good view of the TV while still staying out of your hair.

After you've selected the place to mount your TV in each room, you will need to select what type of TV mounts you will need for each room. Basically, you will either need a ceiling mount or a wall mount. If you will be mounting the TV to the wall, you may need a wall mount with a swivel arm that can move the TV around, or a simple low profile TV mount (although some low profile wall mounts don't even tilt, which can be a problem). You may also need either an articulating wall mount or a fully adjustable TV mount. Remember that usually your staff won't be taking much time to fiddle with adjusting the TV to each patient. You will want to get good, secure TV mounts that allow you to angle the TV to the patient's recumbent position.
