Selecting Your Bedroom Furniture
Our bedrooms are a room we spend a lot of time in and are often neglected in comparison to the living room or family room
. Even kitchens and dining rooms seem to get more respect than the bedroom. Selecting bedroom furniture should be moved up the list when decorating a houses interior, whether it's a new one, or an existing home in need of a make over.
Colour schemes should be kept in mind when deciding the style and makeover of the room. Some people spend a great deal of their time in their room, watching television, working on their laptop computer, spending quality time with the kids, or romancing their spouse. Neutral colours are always a great idea when choosing drapes, walls, and bedding. But if you wish, go a little wild and paint the walls red (it's a sexy colour).
The bedroom set or ensemble choice is a personal decision based on the style of furniture that appeals to the owner. Ideally, the set will match in style and colour. The pieces may include a headboard for the bed, dresser, chest of drawers, nightstand, wardrobe, and perhaps a vanity. There should be a mirror over the dresser and if a vanity is purchased, it should also have a mirror.
The bedroom set you choose will most likely be made of wood for its timely beauty. Wooden items are also great for their sturdiness and durability.
If the bedroom is large enough, many people may decide upon a King or Queen sized bed. Ensure that there is still enough room to walk around to get to the other areas of the room as well.
The style of furniture is only limited by the buyers taste and budget. There are many different styles, with various different types of wood and shades of wood to choose from when shopping. Subtle and elegant designs can make this important room in the house far more appealing and can give it a comfortable and relaxing feel.
Whether you wish to have a platform bed or one raised to include storage space beneath it, the options are unlimited. A panel bed has beautiful wood panels on three sides. These are usually solid and provide no storage beneath it. Some styles have drawers below the mattress that allow plenty of items to be safely stored away.
Your bed could also include a canopy if so desired. Some head boards, referred to as bookcase style, have shelves to store such items as your alarm clock and the books you like to read.
A chest of drawers is a must have for the bedroom (or walk-in closet) as it affords storage space for many articles of clothing such as socks and underwear. If you don't have a dressing table to put things such as a hairbrush or lotions, this piece of furniture can have a dual purpose and save space at the same time.
All of these matching pieces make up a versatile range of bedroom furniture that can make a room very appealing, liveable and functional.
