Selecting the Right Trout Fishing Lure
A fishing lure is any object which is a close imitation of a life fishing bait
. There are tons of lure types and styles that you can choose from, depending on your fishing situation, types of fish and its behavior, location of rivers, lakes, weather, method of fishing and so fort.
These lures become very technically sophisticated, since they are able to simulate the movement, vibration and color combination exactly like the living prey. Lures are integrated with a single, double or treble hook to catch the fish when it takes the lure. All of this sophistication, simply trying to cheat a fish, is provided for the fulfillment of fishing enjoyment.
Talking about trout fishing lures, there are indeed the proper lures for different types of trout, this include the rainbow trout, brown trout, lake trout and brook trout. You will need also different lures depending on trout fishing location. This means that you should be prepared to use multiple lures. Bringing just one or two styles of lures will be insufficient.
Other things to consider to using the right lure is the water temperature and clarity,
underwater plant environment and sunlight which may alter in one given day. So, now we see the reason why there are a huge number of types and styles.
The most popular and frequently use lures are the spinners. Spinner lures are used with an open cast reel. The Spinner Flies, Magnum Spinner and Flutter Bug Spinners are the appropriate spinner types in the beginning of the season when ice has melted.
The Spinner Flies are lures that use artificial flies as bait attached to a treble hook to its tail plus an attractor to catch the trout attention, namely the Colorado Spinner Blade
The Magnum Spinners are weighted lures with an inline blade. It has a pulsating tube feather which is attached to a treble hook. The weighted bodies are painted that matches the color of the feather.
The Flutter Bug Spinner is also a weighted lure with the same type and size of blade as the magnum spinner. But the weight bodies are brass painted, so it gives a darker impression. The darker lure colors are good for clear water fishing, while the brighter colors are good for night fishing.
Another popular lure is the spoon lure which is imitating a small bait fish instead of a fly. The well known Little Cleo is a fantastic trout fishing spoon lure. The water vibration creates the natural movement of the imitated bait fish. Spoon lures are available in two major colors, gold and silver, although there are other color selections which I do not recommend
One popular lure is the Panther Martin which is actually a spinner lure, and since it has a little spoon on it, it may be considered as a spoon lure as well.
Now, before you choose the right lure, I recommend you to inspect the spot where you are about to fish. If the trout in that spot typically enjoys nymphs, you should use the nymph lure. Likewise, if the trout's prey is silver fish, then you should use the silver blade lure for maximum results.
You should even check under rocks or sinking logs to look for whatever trout prey is hiding down there. Then you can select the appropriate lures that can perfectly blend in with its surrounding.
